A weekly class to support people who are challenged with illness
When health is compromised, it is challenging to accept yourself and your body. The teachings of yoga can support the process of acceptance when the future is unknown and enable you to find peace and even joy in the present moment.
It has been well documented that Yoga can help to manage and sometimes reduce physical symptoms, pain, the side effects of treatments and medications and the emotional stress that arises when dealing with a serious illness.
I offer this weekly class to support individuals who are currently or were in the past challenged by serious illness.
The class combines elements of a support group with chair yoga, gentle movement, breathing practices, relaxation techniques and guided meditation. The focus is on healing, relaxing and nurturing. Each class starts with a sharing to give each student the chance to speak openly and honestly about what is happening in their lives.
This class is small-sized so that I can adapt the practices to the needs of each student.
We meet every Wednesday from 1.45 till 3.30 pm.
