About me
It was my own need for healing that motivated me to explore the body-mind connection. After searching for answers in Western psychology and philosophy I realized that true healing and lasting transformation had to include working with my body.
After moving from Berlin to San Francisco in 1996, I certified as a Shiatsu Massage Therapist which deepened my understanding of the energetic structure of the body and the way it relates not only to health but also to contentment, confidence and integrity. It was when a friend of mine claimed that yoga was the secret to her vibrancy and equanimity that I took my first class. I have never stopped practicing since. To deepen my personal practice I took my first teacher training in 2000 and since completed over 1.700 hours of formal training. I have been sharing the teachings of yoga in studios and gyms, the SF county jail, in corporate conference rooms, recovery centers, senior homes and with private students in their homes. |
When my own practice began to stagnate, I left San Francisco and teaching for a few years and retrieved to nature to dedicate myself to the teachings and my own healing. Spending time in pristine wilderness helped me to connect to something bigger than myself and to put my own struggles into perspective. I learned more patience and tenderness with myself and how to surrender to natural cycles.
Eventually I felt the need to return to society and teaching. I certified as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist in 2011, to combine my interest for Western psychology and yoga.
I continue to study yoga as a healing art and completed many more Trainings so that I can support my students most effectively. In 2016 I was recognized by the IAYT as a certified yoga therapist.
My own practice, self-care and the yogic way of living remain the priority in my life. I have chosen a very modest and simple life-style in which I can live as much as possible in harmony with the planet. I only work with a small number of students to ensure that I can give my undivided attention to all of them.
