Learn which new concepts I integrated into classical yoga to make it more relevant and applicable -NOW
When I started practicing yoga over 25 years ago, I was wildly attracted by both the practices and the philosophy. Yet the language of these ancient teachings seemed other-worldly and not quite applicable to deal with mine or my students' discomfort, pain, insecurity, anxiety, disease, compulsion, or addiction. I began to complement my study of classical yoga with Western Psychology, Neuroscience, Behavioral Science and Trauma Work. In the end I realized that all these modern modalities were well integrated into yogic psychology - in the most sophisticated, holistic way. I simply had to find my own, modern language to bring these teachings to life. This became the heart of my teaching: Making yoga philosophy/psychology applicable to modern life issues, in the simplest and most effective way possible.
Areas that I have been studying extensively and integrated into my understanding of yoga and into my work as a yoga therapist:
How exactly yogic practices support the regulation of your nervous system (which governs every aspect of your existence) and how to use them efficiently to counterbalance high-pressure environments
Why it is so important to increase body awareness to support mental health
How yogic psychology shows you the way to a meaningful, content, balanced life in the midst of way too busy schedules
Why the skill of boundary-setting is so crucial for mental and also physical health
Why the journey towards true authenticity is the most important, most difficult and most fulfilling journey of your life.
How insights from Behavioural Science can support you to implement desired changes in an easy, efficient and lasting way
How trauma can impact your ability to live the life you want and how to heal from it
With over 25 years of experience, I know with confidence that yoga works. It offers you everything you need to live a meaningful and balanced life. The yogic system supports you on every level, it is the most holistic, all- encompassing approach I know. Which is why it is so powerful, affirming and healing. Please stay connected to learn more.
